It will be an infra-red CCTV camera work if mounted on the inside (pointing outdoors through glass)?

I'm creating a closed circuit camera television is equipped with IR LED. It would be easier for me to mount on the inside, pointing outside my unit. This would save me drilling through the wall of the house to run power and video cable through. The question is, Will the transition through the glass prevents the infrared light, making it ineffective?

Without the LEDs I would say definitely OK. With the LEDs, such as taking a photo flash through a window, you may need to experiment with the angle so that just does not see a reflection in the window.
