Webcam Surveillance Software?
Whats a good webcam surveillance software that has Motion Detection, Email alerts, Streaming video and audio, multiple cams.
I don’t care if it’s freeware or have to buy, as long as its not too much.
All the searching I do comes up with the same crappy software that always crashes. The even crappier software doesn’t crash, it just sucks.
I leave my secondary computer on 24/7, and want to use that one for home surveillance.
What do you guys use or know about?
mjlambie- Thats, just about perfect. I especially like that It’s programmable, and that there are so many programs already posted from other people in the wiki.
I’m going to wiat a day or two to see if anyone else gives suggestions, otherwise your idea is excelent.
i love ‘motion’ on linux. it’s pretty rad, and with a little coding, you can handle multiple cameras, setup alerts, upload pics and a slew of other things.

i used it to watch a feral cat on my porch. it streamed it 24/7 to which i could watch it in a browser or media player and i programmed it to upload a pic every second to twitpic anytime it detected motion. i also programmed it to send me a direct message on twitter at the beginning of a motion event. it works really well after you tweak some of the settings, but it does require a little programming.
